The Economic Developers Council of Ontario (EDCO) recognized excellence in economic development at its recent Conference and Awards Gala last week. The Gala gathered almost 400 industry leaders who came together to celebrate and recognize the contribution of their peers.

Close to 100 award submissions were received for innovative community economic development projects from across the Province and the Economic Development Corporation of Wawa with its private sector partner Prodigy-Argonaut Gold was recognized for its efforts for the Wawa Mine Your Own Business youth entrepreneurship project.

“It is a real privilege to honour such deserving communities like Wawa,” said Jennifer Patterson, EDCO 2013 President. “Celebrating their achievements and sharing their success helps promote a higher standard of excellence across the province, resulting in a greater Ontario.”

“The EDC of Wawa was thrilled to receive this award and extends their thanks to Prodigy-Argonaut and the Ministry of Economic Development, Trade and Employment for its contribution to the success of the Wawa Mine Your Own Business youth project. I would also thank EDCO and its Award Committee for its hard work coordinating such an exceptional Gala and Awards event,” stated Maury O’Neill. “I was very pleased that Michelle Tanguay from Argonaut-Prodigy and Dan Humphries from MEDT were able to participate in the EDCO Awards ceremony and share in receiving this award.”
